A Treat for Teachers

Yay for teachers!  The start of school has gotten many teachers stressed out — getting your classrooms ready with bulletin boards, class lists, labeling, laminating, copying….and organizing.
For the month of September, Tracy Calhoun Photography will be honoring all those wonderful teachers out there.  So if you or someone in your family is a teacher — this month is for you!  I am thinking the last thing on your mind will be picture taking but what a great way to take a break from all the craziness!

{The Treat}
20% off a digital package (includes session + a high-resolution CD with all of your images)

**Session needs to be booked within the month of September**

Five on Friday

Happy Friday everyone!  I'm linking up with Darci, Christina, Liz and Natasha for another Five on Friday!

1.  As much as I love fall and the cooler weather that accompanies it, I am a little sad that this is the last official weekend of summer.  We will still have summer-like weather here in OK for another month or so, but the pool will be closing this weekend, which means no more long afternoons at the pool.

2.  On the flip side, cooler weather means that we'll be spending a lot more time in our backyard.  My husband built the kids a play set this summer and they've been able to go out a couple of times each week in the evenings, but I imagine that we will be out there almost every evening this fall.

3.  My little girl finishes up her first full week of kindergarten today.  (sniff, sniff!)  She is attending a Spanish immersion school where the teacher only speaks Spanish to the students.  The only English they hear is in the art and music classes, the library and the gym.  She comes home every day with new words that she has learned and I am so excited to see what this year has in store for her!

4.  Now that my daughter is at school during the week, the toys on the floor have switched from Barbies and princesses to trucks and dinosaurs.  I'm looking forward to spending some one on one time with my son and getting to know him as an individual and not just sissy's little brother.

5.  My daughter sits at her vanity every morning before school and brushes her hair.  Yesterday, after my son woke up from his nap, I sat down to send a quick email.  When I didn't hear any noise coming from his room, I went looking for him.  Well, he was in his sissy's room and then is what I found...

Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend everyone!

Wall Art Inspiration

I am always browsing the internet for ideas on how to display photos, not only for myself but for clients as well.  Here are some that I've come across this week that I love.  I'm thinking of making this a weekly post, so let me know your thoughts.

Big Girl A Turns 1 | Tulsa Children's Photographer

I have been photographing this little cutie since she was 5 days old.  I can't believe that she's already one!  This was one of my favorite sessions of all time.  This little angel is so precious!

Someone just learned how to walk!
Mom picked up this antique high chair for her birthday party.  So cute!

Love, love, love all of these yellow flowers!

Five on Friday

Happy Friday!  I'm teaming up with Liz, Darci, Natasha and Christina for another Five on Friday.  Here's what's on my mind this week...

1.  We had a wonderful time in Seaside last week.  What a great way to end the summer!  Is it too late to start planning another trip there?

2.  My little girl started kindergarten yesterday.  No tears were shed, but I am going to miss having her around during the middle of the day.  I think her little brother will too!

3.  I've been working on getting into better shape.  I joined a 60 day challenge group and we're all doing the Focus T25 workout by Beachbody.  We've finished the first 30 days and I'm feeling pretty good.  My clothes fit a little better and I am noticing my energy level increasing.  I'll let you know the results when the 60 days is up.
4.  I know I talked about being ready for fall a couple of weeks ago, but here's something else I am looking forward to...

This is my favorite drink from Starbucks!  When they start selling their pumpkin spice latte, then it is officially fall.

5.  One of my new favorite (and easy, peasy) recipes is crockpot salsa verde chicken.  I got the recipe from Skinnytaste and both my husband and I love it.  I love cooking with my crockpot because it is so much more convenient.

I warm up corn tortillas for a few minutes in a skillet and then we fill them up with this yummy deliciousness.  You can add whatever toppings you like...cheese, tomatoes, lettuce.

Seaside, Florida

My family escaped to Seaside, FL for one last vacation before my oldest starts kindergarten tomorrow (gasp!).  The weather could have been a little better - it rained all but one day that we were there.  We managed to make it out to the beach every day though in between rain showers.  In fact, I preferred the cloudy days to the one sunny day that we had.  When the sun was out, it was HOT and I think it was a little much for our little guy to handle.

I purchased a tripod and a wireless shutter remote before we left so that I could get a few shots of all 4 of us while we were there.  I'm usually the one taking photos and I rarely end up in any of them.  We were hoping to get a good family shot for Christmas cards this year!

We had a wonderful time and we will definitely be going back!

Five on Friday

I'm linking up with Darci, Christina, Liz and Natasha for Five on Friday.

ONE ~ I know it's only the beginning of August, but I am ready for fall!  Here are a few fall goodies that I can't wait to buy.

TWO ~ We are headed to Seaside, FL on Monday for one last family getaway before my oldest starts kindergarten.  Turquoise water and white sandy beaches are calling my name!  Have any of you ever been there?  It's where they filmed the Truman Show starring Jim Carrey.  This will be our first visit, but I know several people who have been there repeatedly and they love it.

THREE ~ The kids and I headed down to Seminole, OK yesterday to check out the Jasmine Moran Children's Museum.  It was a bit of a drive and I was wiped out by the time we returned home, but the kids had a great time.  (Photos taken with my cell phone)

FOUR ~ A friend of mine hosted a Matilda Jane trunk show the other night and I snatched up this cute little dress for my daughter.  I also decided that I'm going to host a show at my house on November 1st with the new holiday line, so if you live in Tulsa and are interested in coming, send me a message and I'll get an invitation to you!

FIVE ~ I started a new exercise program a couple of weeks ago and I am really trying to drink 64 oz. of water a day.  I am generally not a very thirsty person, so I am having to make a real effort at it.  Wish me luck!
